This is one of many trestle bridges along the Caprock Canyons Trailway. The Fort Worth and Denver South Plains Railway was built in the early 1920s by Burlington Northern. This line ran freight and passenger service between South Plains and Estelline in 1928. The service ran until 1989. In 1992 the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department acquired the 64 mile line and converted it to a trail with the help of the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy.
